As trial versions go this is actually a demo it is limited to only 8 bits per channel and a portion of the image processed in the output, but at least you can get the idea. 8.2 the other day, and downloaded a trial. Thorough or not, a Damned compilation may be chaotic, uneven, and head-scratchingly baffling, but it should never be a chore. I received a teaser e-mail from ABSoft about upgrading the Neat Image PS plug-in to v. The Damned endure, first among equals as the unsung (well, less sung) heroes of British punk, and they do so because unlike those eventually caught in their own rhetoric or tied to stereotype (with their own bondage, no less), the Damned epitomized the mindless, directionless energy that kinda got punk rolling in the first place. Stultifying inclusions like "Your Eyes", "Billy Bad Breaks", and "Dozen Girls" make the LP a chore. Like the Damned themselves, Neat Neat Neat is guilty of not quitting while it's ahead. With the inexplicable exception of "Plan 9 Channel 7", virtually everything a casual Damned fan needs to hear is included.īut oh, they include a lot more than that, sadly. A couple of extra tracks from original lead guitarist Brian James' glory days, like the tongue-in-cheek lament of "Fan Club" or "Born to Kill", and some less-seen later-period gems such as the incomparable arrogance of "I Think I'm Wonderful" and "Melody Lee" are excellent inclusions. Still, credit where it's due: the Sanctuary comp misses none of the Damned's most important moments- "New Rose", the blistering "Love Song" and "Neat Neat Neat, and the brilliant, cocaine-fueled shot at the Beatles' "Help", to name a few- while managing to pack in some extra quality as well. Rather than include too little and join the multitudes of shallow, uneven also-rans, Neat Neat Neat errs on the side of overkill but simply can't justify its length. Of all the comps, only the thorough Light at the End of the Tunnel managed to hit the necessary highs while making the band's lesser material stand up by comparison. The intervening, stagnant Music for Pleasure and their later descent in gothic kitsch leave far less salvageable material. Because as great and vital as the Damned were, they produced a limited selection of truly unassailable material: the white-hot fireball of Damned Damned Damned and their psych-punk powerhouse Machine Gun Etiquette. Neat Neat Neat fights for table scraps at an already glutted table, but is further hindered by the Damned's own sordid recording history. Adding the three-disc Neat Neat Neat anthology to an array of live and "best of" comps that greatly outnumber the band's seven proper studio recordings (not counting any latter-day reunion offal) is a tough sell. And maybe that- the unexpected spark of life not present in so many other punk artifacts- explains why the Damned continue to be relentlessly compiled. That's the true importance of the Damned, in a way that my retelling of the band's convoluted history could never convey. They eschewed political poses and anti-authoritarian rants (except to piss off the mob once in a while) and just played whatever the hell they wanted and had some fun doing it. If punk ever had an ideal of doing your own thing, breaking the rules, or any of the other liberating clichés it's been reduced to, the Damned embodied that for as long as any band could. They're more complex and don't seem to produce better results for me.So I listened once and forgot them for a year when I finally returned, understanding suddenly bloomed from ignorance. I've trialled newer versions and really don't get along with them. Topaz seems interesting but last I used it I did not get the results I wanted, I'm sure it is better these days do so worth a revisit I would say. I do not like Lightroom de-noising or Capture One Sharpening. I also use the same technique for sharpening and can have 3-4 levels of sharpening that I use in special parts of the images. So in in the background I would use very high noise reduction, while for example in important parts I would use low noise reduction. To get the best results if I often do 3 levels of noise reduction. I also like the sharpening that they have.Īnd even more on this image that had an incredible amount of noise since I used ISO 5000 with Canon 5DSR. It give a tremendous amount of control and great results. I use both Neat Video and Neat Image and I have tested many of the others. The latest Neat Image 9 was released on Dec. As post-processing noise reduction software, it enables you to pro-quality photos by preserving the image details. Neat Image has been my favorite noise reducer for a long time. Neat Image can help you remove digital noise from photographic images and perform other image quality improvements.
